EARRINGS - MUMMERS
Mummers Earrings - handcrafted in St. John's, Newfoundland - no two pairs are exactly alike. Made of 100% unpainted Polymer Clay. Assorted colours
Mummering was a centuries old tradition that took place during the 12 days of Christmas in the outports and communities of Newfoundland. It involved dressing up in old clothes or disguises, sometimes wearing a shirt backwards, a towel over your face, etc. & visiting your neighbours. It always involved music, dance, fruit cake and refreshments. You'd hear a knock on the door, followed by "Any Mummers 'allowed in?" Mummering is not as common as it once was but the tradition is kept alive through Newfoundland Art and Craft.
